MMBC SENIOR PASTOR OPPORTUNITY
Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church (MMBC) is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor who is a spiritually grounded, visionary, and experienced leader prepared to guide our congregation into its next season of ministry, growth, and community impact.
The Senior Pastor will serve as the church’s spiritual and executive leader, providing dynamic biblical preaching and teaching while leading the congregation, ministry leadership, staff, and organizational operations with integrity, wisdom, accountability, and a commitment to Christian service.
We Seek a Leader Who Will:
- Provide Christ-centered spiritual leadership, preaching, teaching, and pastoral care.
- Articulate and advance a compelling vision for MMBC’s future.
- Strengthen membership engagement and attract young families, emerging generations, and career-based adults, while honoring and serving our longstanding members.
- Demonstrate effective leadership in strategic planning, organizational management, financial stewardship, staff development, and church operations.
- Build influential relationships and partnerships throughout the Kansas City community and beyond.
- Develop and support innovative ministry, community engagement, and sustainable growth opportunities.
- Lead collaboratively with church leadership, ministry teams, staff, and the congregation.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication, sound judgment, transparency, integrity, and spiritual maturity.
Leadership Experience
Demonstrated executive pastoral leadership experience, normally including at least 5-7 years of progressive ministry leadership, with prior experience serving as Senior Pastor or in a comparable executive pastoral leadership role. Candidates with exceptional leadership experience and a demonstrated record of organizational growth, strategic leadership, and ministry effectiveness may also be considered.
Bi-Vocational Candidates: MMBC welcomes qualified candidates with bi-vocational Senior Pastor experience. Such experience will be fully considered when the candidate demonstrates the leadership qualifications, ministry effectiveness, and competencies established for the Senior Pastor position.
Education & Professional Development
Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and formal theological education.
Preferred: Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), or an equivalent advanced theological degree.
All candidates should demonstrate a continuing commitment to theological education, lifelong learning, professional development, and leadership growth.
